Ekonomi Keuangan adalah bidang yang sangat penting bagi mereka yang sedang mempelajari bidang keuangan ini akan mendasari banyak keputusan keputusannya kelak ketika menjadi seorang manajer keuangan. Sejatinya matakuliah ini adalah mata kuliah yang lebih cocok untuk diberikan pada jenjang pasca sarjana (magister). Tetapi tentu saja tidak menjadi halangan jika para dosen akan memberikannya sebagai pengantar untuk setidaknya memudahkan alumni ketika mengambil pendidikan keuangan yang lebih tinggi. Ekonomi keuangan adalah cabang ekonomi yang menganalisis penggunaan dan distribusi sumber daya di pasar di mana keputusan dibuat di bawah ketidakpastian. Keputusan keuangan harus sering memperhitungkan peristiwa di masa depan, apakah itu terkait dengan saham individu, portofolio, atau pasar secara keseluruhan.
